Job Description

HUNINGTON PROPERTIES, INC., is a full-service commercial real estate firm based in Houston. We are seeking a Construction Accountant - Senior Accountant/Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accounting operations of the retail construction development team.

  • Coordinate and oversee the monthly draw process for Hunington’s portfolio of real estate developments.

  • Preparation of all monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Compile, prepare, analyze, and review monthly draw and reporting packages submitted to funding institutions.

  • Review, monitor, and project cash flow balances to ensure timely funding requirements are met.

  • Prepare weekly check runs to ensure consistent payments of vendors, and general contractors.

  • Assist in coordination, refinement, and compliance with accounting and development team processes and procedures.

  • Analyze the construction budget and perform monthly variance analysis of actuals to budget per project.

  • Analyze loan documents for lender covenants and financial requirements in conjunction with the Development team.

  • Communicate routinely with Project Managers, lenders, general contractors, and other vendors, on a variety of operational and project topics including but not limited to contract agreements, pay applications, open receivables, and payables.

  • Participate in the implementation of company strategic growth plans.

Must be an organized initiative-taker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment that rewards ownership and excellence. Strong communication skills are preferred. Specific requirements include bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance required. Proficient with Excel, and familiarity with other software programs. 4 to 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with specific focus either in construction management, general contracting, or subcontractor industry experience. Understanding of the construction draw process is critical.
